I have a really good friend who is away on a 2 year mission for our church. Before he left we agreed that we would write to each other. We talked about how we wanted to write real handwritten letters and send them in the mail, instead of just emailing. So, we after a few months, we are getting the hang of it. We worked out the timing, and it takes about a month for a letter to get one way. Which means when you write a letter you should get a letter back in about 2 months. Its a really long wait and it means that things are pretty slow. The wait is so hard. When you get close to when it should arrive you check the mail every single day and hope that today it brings you a letter. But when a handwritten letter from someone you really care about finally comes, it is one of the best feelings.

For those of you readers who don't know, I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. And in our church, young men and women are given the opportunity to serve a mission.
So many of my friends are serving right now. I get emails from most of them weekly. I love hearing from them. It is so fun to hear about their experiences, what they are learning, and who they are teaching.
One of my guy friends who I really like is serving in the Dominican Republic. I got my first email from him today. It was so good to hear from him. I miss him so much. I got his email when I was filling for the teacher that I aid for. I read it and totally started crying. I was so happy to finally hear from him but it also made me sad because I miss him so much!
Sorry it's been so long since I've written. I've had so many glitches with my account. I plan on writing more.

So yesterday was the 14th anniversary of the day the tree fell. But I didn't even care because it was also the day that my service dog (in training) finally came to live with us.
She is absolutely beautiful. Her name is Miya and she is a german shepherd.
She is so smart. She is still in the early stages of training but she is learning really fast and she is doing so good. I am loving having her. She is amazing.
I love the way she stares into my eyes and just focuses all her attention on me.
Her and Toby, my other dog, are trying to figure out how to get along. He tolerates her alright but he doesn't really like her yet. When she gets too friendly he will jump at her and try to bite her. She just backs away and kind of ignores him after that. I hope they can come to like each other.
I am so happy to have Miya. I am thanking God that he gave me something good on June 5th. Now I have something new and happy on this day. It will no longer be a day of only sad thoughts.
Oh happy day!

I've been thinking a lot about the smells that are related summer.
I love the cold fresh smell of the swamp cooler. I love the hot woody smell of the backyard deck. I love the musty but sweet green smell from garden tomatoes warm from the sun. I love the cool clean smell of towels after drying off from a swim. I love the smokey smell that lingers in the air after lighting off fireworks in the street. I love the fresh wet smell after a big summer thunder storm. I love the salty smell of buttered popcorn, the sweet smell of candy, and a hot drive in parking lot right after the sun goes down. I love the sweet perfume smell of june roses. I love the green rich smell of freshly mowed grass.
Ah the smells of summer!

Memorial Day was amazing. It was so great to get out of the house and be outside!!
Going to the cemetery with all my family is when I feel the spirit the most. It is amazing. We are such an amazing family. We are so strong and there is really something amazing about being in such a great family. I am so so lucky. I love each and every member of my family individually and I love everyone as a whole. I can honestly say that I love every single member of my family. There isn't one person I don't like.
Memorial Day is such a special day for my family. We celebrate the life of my grandma Mollie and my cousin Mollie. They both passed away 14 years ago when the accident happened. They were both incredible people.
After we went to the cemetery we walked back to my uncles house and had a barbecue. I love being around my family. It was just a great day!
